Dining Room Dilemna

We are still struggling with making a decision about our wall.  We keep scheduling a day to work on it, but we end up postponing it every time because we don't know what to do.  I have been looking for ideas for hours, and this is all that I have found for inspiration for our specific situation.

In the first picture, I love the opening in the wall with the post down the middle.  In the second picture, I really like the shelves on the wall and the cart below them (nothing to do with the wall).

I love the huge doorways with the pretty trim around them.  This makes part of me want to just widen the opening between the living room and dining room instead of knock out the whole thing.

I like the bench couch as seating for the table in the first picture.  The second picture makes me think that we could knock out the wall and have one big room.

And this has nothing to do with the wall either, but I LOVE this and want to do this in the dining room.

Oh my!!!  I don't know what to do.  I like all these options, and I keep going back and forth.  Maybe we should just start by widening the opening.  Then we could keep going if we wanted, or add a little window in what is left of the wall.

Tell me your opinions....PLEASE!
Also, if you know of any good interior design websites or blogs, let me know.

I think I will try to post pictures of the actual wall in question later.  Maybe that will help you visualize what we are talking about.

  1. I know what the rooms look like. I vote for widening the opening and framing it in, keeping a small length of wall to divide the rooms. Just my opinion, but I think it would look great. If you don't like it, taking out more later would be easier than putting back up what you tore down already.

    Love you.

  3. So many cute ideas! I kind of wish I was in your spot dealing with your dilemma because decorating is just SO fun! Though, because I haven't seen your new home yet I just can't tell you what I think in terms of those pictures :(

But I CAN give you my favorite interior design blog (which you probably already know about...but maybe you don't yet!?)

Anyway, good luck! Can't wait to see what you decide!
