We seriously live in an amazing state. Growing up, I did not appreciate living in California like I do now. Look at it! It's beautiful!
January is such an amazing time to make this drive. We saw whales breaching every five minutes. We also stopped in San Simeon to see all the sea lions, which we have done many times. But this time of year, the male sea lions are there, and they are enormous.
And now we are on the lookout for a Westfalia (camper van) so that we can just jump in there with the dogs (and babies someday) and head up the coast whenever we want, without having to worry about booking hotels.
