Father's Day Presents

Father's Day is coming up this weekend, and I have been thinking a lot about what I want to get for Nick and have been collecting a variety of items.  Seeing as it's his first Father's Day after a very long wait, I thought this year should be extra special.  We did the little photo shoot above, and I plan on putting it on a card for him.  I am always finding products on Tiny Prints that I would want, so I thought I would see if I could find something that Nick might like too.    And, lo and behold, I did.

We have been in need of an address stamp for some time now. Yes, it is true that I have been wanting one more than Nick, but this is a gift that we can both benefit from.  Nick will enjoy it for its practical purposes (he does do the majority of bill paying/mailing around here), and I will enjoy it for its beauty.  It's a win-win.  And come Christmas card time, Nick will be especially appreciative of this gift, when he doesn't have a wife complaining about how bad her hand hurts from addressing so many envelopes.

I think these things, plus a few other little surprises will make this first Father's Day a success.

Hi Dad!

Happy Father's Day!
In honor of Father's Day, I will tell you all a little story about my dad and me...
Once upon a time, we were in Las Vegas for a cheerleading competition for my sisters (because my dad never missed a competition, even if it was in another state).  As we were leaving, one of the valet drivers at the hotel cut my dad off and started yelling at him as he drove past.  Being the just and noble man that he is, he felt that it was necessary to speak to security about said valet driver.  Except when he was telling security about it, they would not listen to him and were mocking him.  They even tried to shut his car door on him.  And, one guy even had the nerve to mockingly wave to us girls in the backseat.  To which, the only logical response was flipping him off, and so  I did.  When that guy told my dad what I had done, that just did my dad in.  How dare he accuse his daughter of doing such a thing.  She would never do that!  My dad would defend my honor to the death.  He threw that car door open so that I could defend myself (because he knows I like to do that), only to have me say that it was true.  At that, he got in the car, I apologized profusely, my mom told me I ruined my dad's whole argument, and we drove away in silence.  A couple hours into the drive home, my mom admitted that she understood why I did it, and my dad started laughing.  This story is a favorite in my family.

The moral of the story:  My dad will defend and protect me (and any of us girls) no matter what, and I will defend and protect him too.  So, don't mess with us....or you might just get flipped off.

Dad...thanks for always being there for us, always loving and supporting us, and for being the best dad us girls could ever have!

Father's Day

We were lucky enough to spend our Father's Day with Nick's parents.  They were down visiting from Turlock this past weekend, so we made sure to have lots of beach time and lots of good food. {I was secretly hoping that all this fun would make them want to move down here.}

This was our Father's Day:

-watched the World Cup....in Spanish (one of the many joys of not having cable tv)

-went to church

-went to an Open House down the street that is the same model as ours so that we can get ideas

-fell in love with the things they did in that house

-came home so Nick and his dad could work on the sprinker system

-called my mom to come over so that she could see the Open House too

-went down and took pictures of the things we like in the house

-Nick and his dad broke the sprinkler, so we decided to go to the beach instead

-Tom said that is what good father's do...get their sons into predicaments so that they can learn how to get out of them themselves

-rode our bikes to the beach

-Nick and his dad swam

-Teri and I enjoyed the sand

-rode our bikes home

-ate dinner at Sarducci's in San Juan Capistrano
