Halloween Parties
Halloween has always been a big event in my family.  We probably had as many Halloween decorations at our house as we did Christmas decorations. Not probably. DEFINITELY. The Halloween parties that we have had over the years are some of my favorite parties ever.  We love to go all out.

Here are some pictures from some of our Halloween events throughout my twenties.

2002
This party was at our apartment my senior year of college.  Nick came to the party, but I had not really gotten to know him yet.  That happened a few months later.
The Space Girls...tin foil shoes and all
(a knock off of the Spice Girls....get it?)
We all had a special name, but I only remember that mine was Diva Space.

2003
Then there was our party in 2003, which took place at my parent's house.  We sent out this little poem in an email invitation:

I do not know what happened in 2004, but it seems that we did not have a party.  I have searched and searched, but no pictures from that Halloween are appearing.  So, onto...

2005
This party was not my best costume year (though, I think it may have been Kristina's best), but we did come up with a fabulous little poem for the invitation to this party.
We must have been boring again in 2006 and 2007, because I cannot find any pictures for those years either.  So, onto...

2008
Mr. and Mrs. Corn
Candy Corn and Pop Corn
Probably my most creative costume ever.

2009
First party at our new house

2010
This year was Halloween bowling instead of a party, because our house was in disarray.
We will have to see what we come up with for this year.

I am having a hard time coming up with 20 items for my wish list, but here is one more thing I would not mind adding to my jewelry holders.

Nick's Proposal--December 2005
I have shared this story before on the blog, but it is definitely one of my top top memories, so I can't leave it out of this list of 20 memories.  So, I will try to include some different details in this post.

Nick's proposal was a total shock to me.  Not because I was not expecting it to happen soon.  I was actually getting rather impatient for it to happen, knowing that he was leaving very shortly to go to South America for a month.  But, I was definitely not expecting it on the night that it happened.  I thought that we were going to be decorating the Christmas tree with my family that night.  But, that was just a cover to get me down to my parents so that we could go for a little night hike to one of our favorite spots.

Along the hike, we first came across this:
See, I told you he used that picture from Mazatlan.
So, I knew what was going on when I saw that and was waiting for him to propose.  But, he told me to keep walking.  Confused, I continued until I saw this:
Nick had spent the day decorating this old abandoned deck that we had watched many sunsets from.

He bought tons of frames from Ikea and developed a whole bunch of pictures of us.  He nailed them up to every post on the deck, along with candles.
He brought up a table, chairs, a blanket, a heat lamp, a lantern, hot chocolate, and an ipod dock.  The whole scene was amazing, and I was in awe at what he had done for me.  We sat down, and he told me to close my eyes.  Then he asked me to marry him and told me to open my eyes.  I opened them to see my beautiful ring, and was shocked once again.  He designed my ring himself, and it was so much better than anything I had imagined getting.  So, of course after seeing the ring, I had to say yes.  Then Nick pulled out something he wrote for me.  I would share it on here, but he would kill me.  I will just say that he is a very good writer and I cried, and I still cry when I go back and read it again every now and then.
And after we had reveled in our newly engaged selves for a bit, we called our friends and family, and they came up to join us.
It was definitely one of the best nights of my life.
(You can see more of the story here if you want)

And, the winning theme for my birthday party was chosen.  It is...
Enchanted Forest.
And I am so excited.  We have been busy making all kinds of decorations.  Kristina designed this invitation for the party, and Amy came up with an inspiration board for how to dress here.  Kim and Nick are very involved in this whole process as well.  Nick is coming up with a way to turn our backyard into the enchanted forest, and Kim is planning the menu and making the cake for the event.  I can't wait!

Second Anniversary Trip--July, 2008

We spent our 2nd anniversary traveling along the Northern coast of California.  We headed out to Patrick's Point, where we camped the first night.  It was beautiful, but I was FREEZING.  I could never live on the northern coast because their summer is colder than our winter. But, it is beautiful to visit.
We spent a lot of time at Agate Beach looking for agates and collecting rocks.  I collected tons of rocks and made a mosaic frame from some of them.  The rest of them spilled onto the floor of our apartment closet, and I might not have cleaned them up until we moved out.
We hiked through the redwoods.  These trees are unbelievable.
From Patrick's Point, we headed to Eureka along the Avenue of the Giants.
We stayed at a cute little bed and breakfast in Eureka and spent a lot of time inside coffee shops and used bookstores because it was so foggy and cold.
From Eureka, we went to San Francisco to spend our Fourth of July/Anniversary.  The weather was much nicer there.
My voice is unbelievably obnoxious in this video, so I apologize.
We watched fireworks in the fog.
The next day, we went to a Giants game.  This was Nick's favorite part of the trip, and probably mine too (even though I will forever be a Braves fan).  But, the Giants did beat the Dodgers, so that was pretty fun to watch.  And their stadium is pretty cool too, as are their garlic fries!
We did not take a trip for our 3rd anniversary, but it was on that anniversary that we decided we would do a big trip every 5 years.  We counted our trip to Cabo in August as our 4 year anniversary trip.  And now year 5 is coming up, and we have nothing planned.  But, it is supposed to be our big trip.  Where should we go?
